This is a stunning alternative colored unheated tanzanite to say the least. Indy faceted this gem in my octagonal design with a Universe cut pavilion. Heat treatments will typically eliminate all but blue or purple. In most lighting, I see a dominant steely gray color gem. Add sunlight and a blue sky to the mix, and now hints of green, purple, blue and even yellow are visible. With a polarizing filter, you can isolate the various colors visible in this unheated piece of tanzanite. This is a very desirable open-toned gem. In most lighting expect a dominant silvery gray gemstone with a subtle blue/green undertone.
