Unique attributes: This gem is slightly included but still absolutely gorgeous. It is very slightly bluish green with a medium tone and it is moderately saturated. It is a perfect sized ring stone. It appears more green or blue depending on the light source, note videos were taken in shaded daylight and direct sunlight. There are a few small black spinel inclusions visible (black dots). The silk (titanium oxide) inclusions give it a sleepy opalescent appearance. The slang trade term is "sleeping beauty" . Most Montana sapphires are like this before being treated (99% of Montana sapphires on the market are heat treated!!). Heat treatment dissolves the titanium oxides into the sapphires crystal structure giving it better clarity and enhancing the color. If you've viewed heat treated Montana sapphires they look like they have blue or green splotches in the stone, this is a typical side effect of heat treatment and the reaction described above. Why wouldn't I heat treat it? I have discovered there is a market for naturally occurring untreated Montana sapphires - This stone is untreated!
