This listing is for the depicted loose gemstone that I personally precision cut on my lapidary equipment
• 2.26 carats •8.4mm in length, 6.6mm in width and 5mm in depth • Cut in my own fantasy long octagonal design • Untreated • Naturally occurring • Corundum (sapphire)
Gemstone Rough Country of Origin: Umba Valley in Tanzania Cutter: Sennin
Unique attributes: Very slightly silky, with a few sparse rutile needles visible under magnification as well. The silk (titanium oxide inclusions) give it an opalescent appearance.
Gemological description: This sapphire is very slightly bluish violet with a light tone and a grayish saturation. It has some visible imperfections but they don't detract from the overall appearance. In most lighting this gem appears to be silvery gray with a hint of lilac and in certain lighting it appears a steely blue. The photo camera had a hard time rendering this gem color accurately, however, the video camera was able to render the color very accurately. The videos in daylight are the best representation of this gem, one video was taken indoors under my display case light. It does shift color slightly, but not enough to classify it as color shifting.
