This listing is for the depicted loose gemstone that I personally precision cut on my lapidary equipment
• 1.19 carats
• 6.6mm in length, 5.8mm in width, and 4.3mm in depth
• Cut in my own fantasy octagonal design
• Untreated/unheated
• Naturally occurring
• Spinel
• Detailed Gem Description:
A natural and untreated spinel with a dominant blue hue, a medium dark tone and grayish saturation. It is eye clean! Some inclusions that are common for a spinel can be viewed under a microscope. See the microscopy report for details. Although gray in appearance it still sparkles and glows in all lighting.
- You can expect a dominant gray spinel with hints of blue and purple in most lighting. In a daylight environment with the sky reflecting in it, you will see more blue, especially if it's a sunny day with a blue sky. The camera sensor picked up on the subtle color, but the human eye will see a dominant gray with the occasional flash of blue or purple.
Photos and videos were taken outdoors under a blue sky with the sun overhead, additional videos were taken indoors in a passive light, under my overhead led lights, and by a window. Please review all the videos thoroughly.
Gemstone Rough Country of Origin: Tanzania
Cutter: Sennin
• Microscopy Report:
This gem features negative crystals in a fingerprint-type formation. I couldn't conclude precisely what they were, but this is a very common inclusion for spinel. Spinel is not typically treated to enhance color or clarity, and I found no evidence of treatment while examining it under the microscope. I used the Photo Atlas of Inclusions volume 2 by EJ Gübelin and JI Koivula for visual reference. Photos 1-5 depict this inclusion cluster in different lighting scenarios and different magnifications. This inclusion is not visible without magnification.
