• Detailed Gem Description:
A natural and untreated corundum with a dominant blue hue, a secondary green hue, a medium light tone, and slightly grayish saturation. Some inclusions are visible, see the microscopy report for details. This is a brilliant, open-toned gem, it glows and sparkles in any lighting!
This gem leans towards a dominant green with hints of blue in most indoor lighting situations. In daylight, it turns a brilliant open shade of blue. The silk inclusions are more visible indoors without direct light, see the indoor video for reference.
Photos and videos were taken outdoors under a blue sky with the sun overhead, additional videos were taken indoors in passive lighting, under my overhead led lights, and by a window. Please review all the videos carefully.
Gemstone Rough Country of Origin: Malawi

• Microscopy Report:
This sapphire features 3 types of inclusions. In the first photo you can see all three, There are what appear to be clouds and platelets, these are both rutile silk. There what appears to be a barb going through the gem, this is actually a rose channel, according to GIA, this is a hollow space. Finally, there is a partially healed fracture which is illuminated on the bottom left. This inclusion does surface on the pavilion of the gem, but it poses no risk to have it set or for daily wear.
In photos 2 & 3, I highlight the rutile clusters, both the sparse needles and the fine cluster. In photo 4 the barbed needle (rose channel) is clearly displayed. And finally, in photo 5, I focused the camera on a parallel twinning plane. The video depicts the rutile silk within the gem. The crisp nature of the rutile silk is an indicator that the sapphire has not undergone heat treatment to enhance its color or clarity. I used the Photo Atlas of Inclusions volumes 1 & 3 by EJ Gübelin and JI Koivula for visual reference.
